Claim 1
Independent Claim
132 words
A concentrate paint stripping composition consisting essentially of a. 3-50 wt. % of an accelerator comprising an alkanol first amine of the formula: ##EQU1##wherein R' is an alkyl group of up to about 4 carbon atoms and R 1 and R 2 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl groups of 1-4 carbon atoms, aryl groups of 6-7 carbon atoms and alkanol groups of 1-3 carbon atoms and a second different amine compound selected from the group consisting of monoethanolamine, diethanolamine, triethanolamine, melamine, 2-(2-aminoethoxy)ethanol, o-phenylene-diamine, 3-methoxy propylamine, phenyldiethanolamine and ethoxy ethoxy propylamine, wherein the mole ratio of the first amine to the second amine is between about 0.3 to 1 and b. 50-97 wt. % of an alkaline material comprising an alkali metal hydroxide as a major portion thereof.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
32 words
The concentrate of claim 1 wherein said first amine is selected from the group consisting of phenylethanolamine, phenyldiethanolamine, o-tolyldiethanolamine, m-tolyl ethanolamine, N-benzyl ethanolamine, N-benzyl diethanolamine t-butyl diethanolamine, and mono-, di- and tri-isopropanolamine.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
30 words
The concentrate of claim 1 wherein said first amine is phenyl diethanolamine and said second amine is selected from the group consisting of monoethanolamine diethanolamine, triethanolamine and ethoxy ethoxy propylamine.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
22 words
A diluted composition consisting essentially of the concentrate of claim 1 in a concentration between about 0.5 and 5 lb/gal. in water.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
37 words
A method of removing a paint film from the surface of an article, comprising contacting said surface with the composition of claim 4 for a period of time sufficient to effect a substantial loosening of the film.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
21 words
The method of claim 5 wherein said composition is maintained at a temperature between about 120° F and its boiling point.
