Claim 1
Independent Claim
104 words
A method for controlling power generation from an electrochemical battery formed from one or more cells having a consumable-metal anode, an oxygen- or hydrogen peroxide-depolarized cathode, a liquid electrolyte solution, an electrolyte reservoir, and circulation means for said electrolyte, wherein said method comprises the steps of: a. introducing the electrolyte solution into the cell; b. adjusting the level of the electrolyte solution in said cell to achieve a desired initial battery voltage output; c. maintaining the temperature of the electrolyte below a maximum preset value of up to 50° centigrade; and d. maintaining the desired battery performance by continual adjustments of said electrolyte level.
Claim 2
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
18 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 wherein said electrolyte level adjustments are effected by a feedback mechanism.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
27 words
A method as in claim 1 wherein said level is continually adjusted by controlling the rate of flow of said electrolyte as determined by said circulating means.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
23 words
A method as in claim 1 wherein said level is continually adjusted by injecting and releasing a non-electrolyte fluid into said electrolyte reservoir.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
35 words
A method as in claim 4 wherein said fluid is air, said injecting thereof is controlled by actuation of an air compressor and said releasing thereof is controlled through operation of an air outlet valve.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
55 words
A method as in claim 1 wherein said method comprises the following additional steps: e. distilling water by using heat of reaction extracted from the electrochemical battery to form water vapor and condensing the vapor on cooled electrolyte; and f. adding said distilled water to said electrolyte thereby increasing the energy density of the battery.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
28 words
A method as in claim 6 wherein said cooling means is a heat-exchanger means with an ambient supply of water-containing cooling medium, said medium providing said water vapor.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
37 words
A method as in claim 6 wherein a wet precipitate of a metal hydroxide is a product of the electrochemical action, said wet precipitate upon being dried by heat removed from said electrolyte providing said water vapor.
Claim 10
Independent Claim
101 words
A method for controlling power generation from an electrochemical battery formed from one or more cells having an aluminum anode, an oxygen- or hydrogen peroxide-depolarized cathode, a liquid electrolyte solution and circulation means for said electrolyte, wherein said method comprises the steps of: a. introducing the electrolyte solution into the cell; b. adjusting the level of the electrolyte solution in said cell to achieve a predetermined initial battery output voltage; c. maintaining the temperature of the electrolyte below a maximum preset value; d. maintaining after the initial adjustment of step (b) said output voltage by continual adjustments of said electrolyte level.
