Abstract

Abstract An article fabricated from a flexible foam material, such as foam rubber, is compressed by encasing the article in a substantially air-tight sack, and withdrawing air from the sack, thereby reducing the size of the foam article for packaging. The article may be a fabric or plastic covered object, such as a pillow or toy animal; after compression, the object is packaged in a box. The packaged article provides an unusual gift item.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 2
Claim 1
Independent Claim 87 words
A method of packaging an article fabricated from flexible foam encased in airpermeable fabric comprising encasing the article in a substantially air-tight bag, removing air from the bag by means of a vacuum pump to create a pressure differential between the inside and outside of the bag of at least 1.0 psi while simultaneously urging the bag into a rigid container, compressing the article to less than about 25% of its freely expanded volume, and securing the opening in the bag to prevent expansion of the article.
