Claim 1
Independent Claim
118 words
A method for the preparation of an ester of an amidoalkanesulfonic acid which comprises bringing into contact, at a temperature between about -10° and 50°C., said acid and sulfur trioxide as fuming sulfuric acid or as a solution or dispersion in a diluent which is inert to the reagents used, and subsequently contacting the reaction mass thus obtained, at a temperature of about 0°-50°C., with an organic hydroxy compound of the formula ROH, wherein R is a hydrocarbon or substituted hydrocarbon radical; with the proviso that the substituents on said substituted radical do not alter significantly its character or reactivity, and no more than about three such substituents are present for each 10 carbon atoms in the radical.
Claim 2
Independent Claim
