Abstract
Abstract Dextro or d-tartaric acid is prepared by microbial conversion of cis-epoxysuccinic acid which is subjected to asymmetrical hydrolysis by the catalytic action of a microorganism taken from the group consisting of the genera Achromobacter and Alcaligenes in which cis-epoxysuccinic acid in an aqueous solution is brought into contact with the enzyme d-tartrate epoxidase.
