Abstract

Abstract Barbecuing apparatus having a plurality of broiling trays arranged to rotate about a common axis. The trays are circumferentially spaced about a rotary shaft, extend radially with respect thereto, and are releasably mounted on disks and arms attached to the disks. The disks are mounted on and driven by the rotary shaft. Below the trays a bed for charcoal is located which heats the food in the trays. The charcoal fire is controlled by water directed at the fire through a plurality of quenching nozzles. Smoke rising from the trays is scrubbed by a high-velocity water mist supplied by a nozzle assembly above a fine-mesh screen through which the smoke passes.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim 149 words
Barbecuing apparatus comprising a casing, a rotary shaft therein, a plurality of trays disposed within the casing about the shaft so as to extend radially outward from the shaft in circumferentially spaced relation to one another, each tray being formed of a basket with an openable top, means removably connecting the trays to the shaft so as to enable the trays to rotate with the shaft, a bed of burning charcoal located within the casing below and spaced from the rotary shaft, means located in the casing for supplying water to the charcoal fire on the bed for controlling the fire by quenching, a screen located in the casing adjacent its top, means for directing smoke coming from the burning charcoal and the trays through the screen, and means for delivering a high-velocity water mist at the side of the screen at which the smoke exits from the screen.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 149 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 60 words
Barbecuing apparatus as specified in claim 1, the means for removably connecting the trays to the shaft comprising a pair of disks secured to the shaft in axially spaced relation to one another, and a plurality of radially arranged arms secured to the disks and extending outward therefrom, the disks and arms being located at the ends of the baskets.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 61 words
Barbecuing apparatus as specified in claim 2, the means for supplying water to the charcoal fire on the bed comprising a water tube in the casing parallel to the rotary shaft and located above and to one side of the bed and a plurality of quenching nozzles connected to the water tube and arranged therealong in spaced relation to one another.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 28 words
Barbecuing apparatus specified in claim 3 in combination with a damper for controlling the flow of smoke coming from the burning charcoal and the trays through the screen.
