Abstract
Abstract A method for producing ethane, ethylene and dimethyl ether compounds, said method comprising the step of passing a mixture of CO and hydrogen over platinum supported on alumina at a temperature ranging from 100 DEG C. to 400 DEG C. and a pressure ranging from 1 to 100 atmospheres.

A process for producing substantial amounts of dimethyl ether, said process comprising the step of passing CO and H 2 over platinum supported on alumina, wherein the amount of platinum ranges from 0.3 to 2 wt. % based on total weight of the support including platinum at a temperature ranging from 200° to 300°C and a pressure ranging from 10.10 to 40 atmospheres and wherein the mol rato of hydrogen to CO ranges from 0.1 to 2.
