Abstract

Abstract Apparatus for performing an in situ testing of the condition of a battery positioned within a sealed multihyphened walled package suited for retail distribution, which battery may form a component of a composite photographic film ladened cassette assemblage. Upon positioning the package within a receiving arrangement, relative movement is provided between the package and a pair of testing probes which penetrate the package and contact terminal defining surfaces of the battery. Utilizing the tested battery itself as a power supply, an evaluation of internal impedance and voltage characteristics is made for a limited sampling interval. At the conclusion of this interval, a comparator arrangement evaluates the level of sampled voltage and selectively illuminates an indicator, for instance, a light emitting diode. Drawing dismissible power from the battery at the conclusion of the sampling interval, the (L.E.D.) remains energized until the package is released from the test apparatus.
