Abstract

Abstract A method of forming a colored oxide film on an aluminum or aluminum alloy material by electrolyzing the aluminum or aluminum alloy material used as one or each of the electrodes in an electrolytic bath containing a metallic salt while applying a pulse voltage consisting of a plurality of unipotential pulses whose polarity is reversed at every predetermined conduction time. The aluminum or aluminum alloy material may also be one that has an oxide film previously formed thereon.
