Abstract Activator compounds for bleaching and/or detergent compositions comprising imides having an N-bonded grouping of the formula COOR wherein R represents lower alkyl or phenyl, typical compounds including e.g., N-methoxycarbonylphthalimide; Nmethoxycarbonylsaccharide, N-phenoxycarbonyl succinimide, and Nmethoxycarbonyl acetamide.
