Abstract
Abstract A method for the oxidative destruction of gaseous organic compounds consists essentially of passing the organic compounds and an excess of air at a temperature from about 180* C to about 800* C over a catalyst consisting essentially of from about 50 to about 85% by weight of manganese oxides, primarily in the form of rhombohedral manganese dioxide; up to about 30% by weight of manganese carbonate; from about 3% to about 10% by weight of cupric oxide; and up to about 15% by weight of nickel oxides in a refractory excipient. Organic compounds destroyed include xylenols, pyridine, methylpyrrolidone, thiophene, and the like.
