Abstract

Abstract Diisopropylbenzene dihydroperoxides are cleaved with an acid catalyst to produce resorcinol and/or hydroquinone by controlling the content of impurities in a cleavage feed solution of the dihydroperoxides to keep the ratio of the number of 2-hydroxy-2propyl groups to the number of molecules of the dihydroperoxides, not more than 0.16. High cleavage yield can be obtained thereby.
