Abstract
Abstract 3-Halomethyl- Delta 3-cephalosporin (sulfide) esters and sulfoxides thereof, prepared by reacting a phosphorus halide with a 3-hydroxymethyl- Delta 3-cephalosporin sulfoxide ester, which sulfide esters can be de-esterified to form antibiotics, and which sulfide ester and sulfoxide ester products are useful as intermediates in the production of known and new antibiotics.
