Abstract

Abstract Release material applicator structure for utilization in a heat and pressure fuser including a fuser roll structure for fixing toner images to support sheets. The release material employed is solid at room temperature and liquid at the operating temperature of the heated fuser roll structure. It is disposed in a sump and contacts the fuser roll structure. A collector bar is supported by the sump such that it is disposed adjacent to the fuser roll structure and coextensive therewith. When the liquified release material reverts back to its solid form it accumulates on the collector bar and the bar maintains contact of the release material with the fuser roll structure.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 103 words
Fuser apparatus for fixing toner images to support sheets said apparatus comprising: a heated roll structure; a resilient backup roll structure cooperating with said fuser roll structure to form a nip through which said support sheets move; a sump for containing release material; release material disposed in said sump and contacting said heated fuser roll structure, said release material being solid at room temperature and liquid at the operating temperature of said fuser apparatus; and means supported by said sump for maintaining said release material in contact with said fuser roll structure when said release material turns from a liquid to a solid.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 103 words
Fuser apparatus for fixing toner images to support sheets said apparatus comprising: a heated roll structure; a resilient backup roll structure cooperating with said fuser roll structure to form a nip through which said support sheets move; a sump for containing release material; release material disposed in said sump and contacting said heated fuser roll structure, said release material being solid at room temperature and liquid at the operating temperature of said fuser apparatus; and means supported by said sump for maintaining said release material in contact with said fuser roll structure when said release material turns from a liquid to a solid.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 31 words
Structure according to claim 1 wherein substantially all the surfaces of said sump contacting said release material are coated with a material having a relatively low affinity for said release material.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 22 words
Structure according to claim 1 wherein said means supported by said sump comprises a collector bar disposed adjacent said fuser roll structure.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 33 words
Structure according to claim 3 wherein substantially all of the surfaces of said sump contacted by said release material are coated with a material having a relatively low affinity for said release material.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 18 words
Structure according to claim 3 wherein said collector bar is fabricated from a relatively high surface energy material.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 16 words
Structure according to claim 5 wherein said substantially all of the surfaces are coated with tetrafluoroethylene.
