Abstract

Abstract A transporting and lifting vehicle for heavy loads, e.g. converter exchange vessels used in steel production. The vehicle is provided with a travelling frame, which is rotatable into different directions of travel. A lifting-rotating mechanism is built into the travelling frame, but is not mechanically connected therewith. This lifting-rotating mechanism is liftable, lowerable, rotatable about a central axis and supportable on the ground. It consists of at least two, preferably three, closed concentric rotating frames, which are rotatable towards each other. These rotating frames are constructed in such a way that each rotating frame can be supported by the travelling frame in one angular position and can pass through the traveling frame in another angular position. The rotating frames are in the form of rings or polygons and have radial projections or flanges. Extendable and retractable lifting means, preferably hydraulic differential pistons, whose lifting height is smaller than the total lifting height of the load, are arranged on one of the rotating frames.
