Abstract
Abstract Alpha -Aminoacyl cephalosporins represented by the formula wherein R is phenyl, substituted phenyl, thienyl or furyl, R1 is hydrogen, methyl, ethyl or 3-methyl-2-butenyl; and R2 is hydrogen or an ester forming group; are provided. When R1 is other than hydrogen and R2 is hydrogen the 3-cephem ethers provided are valuable orally effective antibiotics, especially 7-(D- Alpha phenylglycylamido)-3-methoxy-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid. The 3hydroxy cephalosporins (R1 H, R2 ester) are valuable intermediates.
