Abstract
Abstract A method for reducing the time required to obtain separation with a great resolution of components in a sample solution by isoelectric focusing consists of applying an electrical field between a pair of electrodes positioned at the top and bottom of density gradient columns in successive steps, a succeeding step being performed with a density gradient column having a smaller cross-section perpendicular to the electrical field than that of the column used in the preceding step.
