5-Aminomethyl-5H-dibenzo{8 a,d{9 cycloheptenes
Abstract
Abstract The invention discloses compounds of the class of 5-substituted5H-dibenzo(a,d)cycloheptenes which are 5-hydrazinoalkyl-or 5aminoalkyl-5H-dibenzo(a,d)cyclohepten-5-ols, or their 10,11dihydro derivatives. The compounds are pharmaceutically active and useful, for example, as anti-convulsants and tranquilizers. A key intermediate are compounds which are a spiro(dibenzo(a, d)cycloheptene-5,2''-oxirane) from which compounds of the invention may be prepared in one or more steps involving in the first step the reaction of said intermediate with a nitrogen compound such as hydrazine or ammonia. Another key intermediate are compounds which are a spiro(5H-dibenzo(a,d)cyclohepten-5oxazolin-2-one)which are subjected to alkaline hydrolysis to obtain the compounds of the invention.
