Abstract

Abstract Aluminum chlorhydroxide catalyst systems are applicable in a broad variety of finishing techniques for producing wrinkle resistant textile materials. Al2(OH)5Cl is unique in its versatile effectiveness in the catalysis of formaldehyde and formaldehyde-amide treatments of cellulose-containing textiles. It can function alone as catalyst, with strong acids to attenuate their catalytic activity, or with weak acids and salts to give synergistically activated catalysis.
