Abstract

Abstract A composition useful for lubricating components of internal combustion engines requiring lubrication comprising a major proportion of oil of lubricating viscosity, a minor amount of at least one metal carbon linked phenate and a minor amount of at least one of certain nitrogen-containing components wherein the combination of the phenate and the nitrogen-containing component is present in an amount to improve the oxidation stability of the composition. These compositions may also include at least one chlorinated hydrocarbonaceous component in an amount sufficient to improve the wear properties of the lubricating oil composition toward silver.
