Abstract
Abstract The use of compounds of polyvalent cations with aluminate, borate, and aluminosilicate anions has been found to provide improved clarification methods for aqueous suspensions. The use of these materials is much more effective than that of the corresponding conventional mono-valent cation compounds. A particularly effective form of these clarifying agents results when preparation is carried out by high temperature methods, including the fusion of the reactants. Recycling of the used clarifying agents is possible using these materials, especially when the flocculated solids are incinerated during the ultimate disposal step.
