Abstract

Abstract 1. A method for the preparation of a double base propellant grain which comprises the steps of 1. PRETREATING NITROCELLULOSE BY A. STIRRING 100 GRAMS OF DRY NITROCELLULOSE INTO A SOLUTION OF 2 GRAMS OF PHENYL ISOCYANATE IN 500 GRAMS OF CARBON TETRACHLORIDE, B. FILTERING THE RESULTING MIXTURE AND C. DRYING THE RESIDUE; 2. ROTATIONALLY STIRRING 15 PARTS BY WEIGHT OF THE PRETREATED NITROCELLULOSE WITH 3 PARTS RED LEAD, 1 PART NITRODIPHENYLAMINE, 57.1 PARTS BY WEIGHT NITROGLYCERIN AND 23.6 PARTS BY WEIGHT TRIACETIN UNTIL A VISCOUS MIXTURE RESULTS, 3. ADDING TO THIS MIXTURE TOLYLENE DIISOCYANATE, 4. TRANSFERRING THE RESULTING MIXTURE UNDER REDUCED PRESSURE TO A CONTAINER AND, 5. CURING FOR 5 DAYS AT 50* C.
