Abstract
Abstract Diarene chromium compounds where each arene separately is an alkyl benzene or optionally alkyl substituted diphenyl, tetralin or indane molecule are prepared substantially pure by condensing gaseous chromium atoms with the arene or mixture thereof at a pressure of less than 10 2 torr and at a temperature compatible with maintaining that pressure. The diarene chromium compounds may be thermally decomposed to deposit a layer comprising chromium.
