Abstract

Abstract A solution of cation regenerant containing a complex of cation regenerant and anion regenerant is separated and purified by passage through a modified chromatographic media exhibiting a retarding effect on the cation regenerant or the complex. A solution of cation regenerant at a concentration of at least one normal and preferably 2 to 3 normal is passed through a column of solid, insoluble chromatographic media having a pK in the range of 9-10. This procedure does not require organic solvent elution and wash requirement is low giving a final eluate of minimum volume.
