Abstract
Abstract Pigmented paper coating compositions comprising a mixture of alkali-soluble and alkali-insoluble polymer latices have greatly improved water retention properties when an emulsion copolymer of butadiene, 20-55% wt. methacrylic acid and 3-35% wt. half ester of a polymerizable dicarboxylic acid and ethoxylated alcohol or alkylphenol is used as the alkali-soluble polymer component.
