Abstract
Abstract A synthetic fabric bulk pile carpet and like soft material having both improved antistatic and antisoil characteristics obtained by applying from about .5 to 4% SiO2 based upon the dry weight of the carpet fabric pile of a silica aquasol having a coating of alumina on each silica particle, and methods of treating carpets and other soft material fabrics such as wall coverings, draperies, doormats, car upholstery and interior.
