Chelates for the control of metal-deficiency-phenomena in biological systems
Abstract
Abstract Heavy metal chelates of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid derivatives are useful for the control of metal-deficiency phenomena in biological systems. In the formula R represents the phenyl or naphthyl radical which can be substituted by halogen, hydroxy, mercapto, nitro, cyano, thiocyano, alkyl, alkoxy, halogenoalkyl, acyl, acylamino, acyloxy, carboxyl, alkoxycarbonyl, carbamoyl, pyridoylamino, N-carboxyalkyl-carbamoyl, sulpho, sulphamoyl, mono- or dialkylated or phenylated sulphamoyl which can also carry one of the groups -CH2-CH2-SO3H or -CH2-COOH, alkylsulphonyl, alkoxysulphonyl, or by an optionally hydroxycontaining phenylsulphonyl or phenoxysulphonyl; or wherein R represents the pyridine or quinoline radical which can be substituted by halogen, hydroxy, alkyl, or carbamoyl.
