Abstract
Abstract An adduct is prepared by heating together, in the presence of an acid catalyst, (1) a perfluoroalkyl alcohol of formula Rf(CH2)nOH such as perfluoroalkylethyl alcohol; (2) a polyalkylene glycol such as polyethylene glycol having a molecular weight of about 1000; and (3) a poly(alkoxymethyl)melamine such as hexa(methoxymethyl)melamine. These adducts are effective in promoting oil and water repellency and oily soil release from textiles.
