Abstract

Abstract Calculus formation can be inhibited by contacting the teeth with the reaction product of a higher fatty alcohol having from about 8 to about 14 carbon atoms with phosphorus pentoxide. The anticalculus agents can be incorporated into a variety of oral preparations, including dental creams, mouthwashes, and the like.

Claim 1
Independent Claim 34 words
A METHOD OF INHIBITING CALCULUS FORMATION BY CONTACTING THE TEETH WITH AN EFFECTIVE AMOUNT OF AT LEAST 0.1% OF A DIALKYL PYROPHOSPHATE HAVING FROM ABOUT 8 TO 14 CARBON ATOMS, IN THE ALKYL GROUPS.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 34 words
A METHOD OF INHIBITING CALCULUS FORMATION BY CONTACTING THE TEETH WITH AN EFFECTIVE AMOUNT OF AT LEAST 0.1% OF A DIALKYL PYROPHOSPHATE HAVING FROM ABOUT 8 TO 14 CARBON ATOMS, IN THE ALKYL GROUPS.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 19 words
