Abstract
Abstract Aircraft passenger seats are made variable in width to allow for either coach or first class accommodations. The width of the seat bottoms is varied by means of telescopiing tubes or equivalent structural members used for cross beams. When the seat bottoms are extended, a short segment of cushion is added, an armrest cap folds open, and a center table is plugged into bayonet sockets in the armrest. No change is made in the seat backs.
