Abstract
Abstract An alloy and a method for producing the same are described in which the alloy is characterized by a primarily recrystallized microstructure having a (110) (001) orientation. The alloy contains from 5% to 35% cobalt, up to 2% chromium, up to 3% silicon, less than 0.005% sulfur and a balance essentially iron with incidental impurities. The method includes a schedule of hot and cold working the latter in limited amounts together with corresponding heat treatments producing the desired improved magnetic characteristics.
