Claim 3

A method of driving a pile as claimed in claim 1 wherein said pile has a body portion having a terminus, means associated with said body portion for transporting a supply of liquid relative thereto, a drive shoe, means for conducting the supply of the liquid to the drive shoe and a plurality of jets arranged to permit controlled expulsion of liquid from the drive shoe, said column of liquid being present in said conducting means and the drive shoe being reciprocal with respect to the terminus of the body portion of the piling, the step of simultaneously intermittently blocking a column of liquid to set up a water hammer effect being performed by means on the drive shoe.

Claim 4

In combination, a pile, means for vibrating said pile, means for containing a column of liquid associated with said pile and means for intermittently blocking said column of liquid during vibration of said pile to set up a water hammer effect to cooperate with the vibratory effect to drive said pile.

Claim 5

In combination, a pile, means for vibrating said pile, means for containing a column of liquid associated with said pile and means for intermittently blocking said column of liquid during vibration of said pile to set up a water hammer effect to cooperate with the vibratory effect to drive said pile.

Claim 6

In combination, a pile, a vibrator and clamping means for clamping the vibrator to said pile, said pile coMprising a body portion having a terminus, means associated with said body portion for transporting a supply of liquid relative thereto, a drive shoe, means supporting the drive shoe in spaced relation to the terminus of said body portion and so that said drive shoe can be moved relative to the body portion of the pile when the pile is driven, means operatively connected to said transporting means for conducting the supply of liquid to the drive shoe, and a plurality of jets formed in the drive shoe and arranged to permit controlled expulsion of liquid from the drive shoe and in a generally upward direction along the outer surface of the drive shoe to assist in lubricating the drive shoe and the surrounding portion of the pile when the pile is driven, and said clamping means having combined therewith a means for connecting a hose thereto and a means for conducting liquid from said hose to the liquid transporting means on the pile.

Claim 7

In combination, a pile, a vibrator and clamping means for clamping the vibrator to said pile, said pile coMprising a body portion having a terminus, means associated with said body portion for transporting a supply of liquid relative thereto, a drive shoe, means supporting the drive shoe in spaced relation to the terminus of said body portion and so that said drive shoe can be moved relative to the body portion of the pile when the pile is driven, means operatively connected to said transporting means for conducting the supply of liquid to the drive shoe, and a plurality of jets formed in the drive shoe and arranged to permit controlled expulsion of liquid from the drive shoe and in a generally upward direction along the outer surface of the drive shoe to assist in lubricating the drive shoe and the surrounding portion of the pile when the pile is driven, and said clamping means having combined therewith a means for connecting a hose thereto and a means for conducting liquid from said hose to the liquid transporting means on the pile.

Claim 8

In combination, a pile and a vibrator, said pile having a liquid conducting means forming a part thereof and said vibrator having clamping means for clamping said vibrator to said pile, said clamping means having combined therewith a means for connecting a hose thereto and a means for conducting liquid from said hose to said liquid conducting means.

Claim 9

In combination, a pile and a vibrator, said pile having a liquid conducting means forming a part thereof and said vibrator having clamping means for clamping said vibrator to said pile, said clamping means having combined therewith a means for connecting a hose thereto and a means for conducting liquid from said hose to said liquid conducting means.

Claim 10

The combination as defined in claim 5, wherein said means for conducting liquid from said hose includes a manifold mounted to the pile, said manifold having at least one opening therein, wherein said means for connecting the hose comprises a nipple connectable to said manifold at said opening, and wherein said clamping means includes a pair of jaws which receive between them the upper edge of the piling to be driven, one of said jaws having a recess formed therein for receiving said manifold and for mounting said nipple.

Claim 11

In a vibrator for pile driving comprising a vibrator body and clamp means for clamping said vibrator to the pile, the improvement comprising combining with said clamping means a means for connecting a hose to said clamping means and a means for conducting liquid from the hose to a liquid conducting means forming a part of the pile.

Claim 12

In a vibrator for pile driving comprising a vibrator body and clamp means for clamping said vibrator to the pile, the improvement comprising combining with said clamping means a means for connecting a hose to said clamping means and a means for conducting liquid from the hose to a liquid conducting means forming a part of the pile.

Claim 13

The improvement as defined in claim 7, wherein said means for conducting liquid from said hose includes a manifold mounted to the pile, said manifold having at least one opening therein, wherein said means for connecting the hose comprises a nipple connectable to said manifold at said opening, and wherein said clamping means includes a pair of jaws which receive between them the upper edge of the piling to be driven, one of said jaws having a recess formed therein for receiving said manifold and for mounting said nipple.
