Abstract
Abstract Method for the production of anhydrous sodium hydrosulfite (Na2S2O4) by feeding together solutions of sulfur dioxide (SO2) and methyl alcohol (CH3OH) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH), sodium formate (HCOONa) and water into a reactor containing a watermiscible alcohol; stirring and heating under pressure, while venting carbon dioxide (CO2); cooling and recovering by filtering hydrosulfite solids.
