Abstract
Abstract Hydroxy ether carboxylates represented by the formula WHEREIN A is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl; M is alkali metal, ammonium, alkyl ammonium or alkanol ammonium and Rx is N BEING AN INTEGER FROM 4 TO 10 AND Rz being hydrogen, alkyl, phenyl, phenyl alkyl, alkoxy alkyl, alkoxy phenyl, alkoxy phenyl alkyl or -COOM are useful as complexing agents and/or detergency builders. The ester and acid forms of these compounds are useful as intermediates for their preparation.
