Abstract

Abstract This disclosure concerns a process of producing photographic images by photoexposing a photosensitive silver halide layer of less than 2 microns thickness and subsequently physically developing the exposed layer to obtain a visible image. The preferred silver halide layers are of a thickness of less than 1 micron. The resulting photo-images are characterized by extremely high resolution, especially resolution required for halographic imaging and reproduction. Additionally, the images are adherently bonded to the film substrate. There is a need for silver halide layers which give high order resolution, for example as required in holography. Additionally, particularly in the production of photographic film, printing plates, nameplates and electrical printed circuits and components, there is need for silver halide layers which yield metal images that are adherently bonded to the layer substrates. The present invention provides a solution to the said needs and additionally provides this solution by way of extremely rapid anad facile processing chemistry.
