Abstract
Abstract A knit fabric is provided in which a woven structure is simulated by feeding spaced warp ends while laying filling ends at opposite sides of the warp ends and causing weft stitch courses to be knit so that needle loops thereof form wales running in the spaces between the warp ends and passing outside of filling ends at both sides of the warp ends while intervening sinker loop portions pass to one side of the warp ends. Such fabric can be formed on any type of weft knitting means that has been adapted properly.

In knit fabric incorporating an inlay of spaced warp ends with filling ends laid at opposite sides of the warp ends, the improvement which comprises weft stitch courses having needle loops knit in wales running in the spaces between said warp ends and interlaced with filling enDs at both sides of said warp ends together with connecting sinker loop portions passing to one side of said warp ends without any necessary knitting-in of any of said warp or filling ends.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim

Claim 7
Dependent Claim
42 words
In knit fabric, the improvement defined in claim 1 in which said sinker loop portions pass to the side of said warp ends at which an adjacent filling end is laid preceding the weft stitch course that includes said sinker loop portions.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
23 words
In knit fabric, the improvement defined in claim 6 in which said adjacent filling end is selectively knit-in at said weft stitch courses.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
23 words
In knit fabric, the improvement defined in claim 6 in which said adjacent filling end is selectively tucked at said weft stitch courses.
