Abstract

Abstract A vidicon camera tube having a semiconducting target whose one face contains an array of reverse biased charge storing junction diodes periodically scanned by a charging beam of electrons and whose opposite face is exposed to light from an image so as to discharge selected ones of the diodes. A conductive grid in the target below the level of the diodes provides improved operating characteristics.
