Abstract WHEREIN EACH R is hydrogen, phenyl, benzyl, cyclohexyl, or an alkyl having one to five carbon atoms and R'' is hydrogen or chlorine. These compounds are used in pressure-sensitive record material and in markforming manifold systems. Colorless, but colorable trimethylfluoran compounds are disclosed, which are represented by the formula
