Abstract

Abstract A pre-erase magnetic recording head of constant width, with a relatively long erase gap for producing erasing magnetic fields which fringe beyond the width of the erase gap. The erased portion of the recording track is then wider than the width of the head, which eliminates cross-talk between recorded tracks. A plurality of embodiments constructed in accordance with different fabrication techniques are described.
