Abstract
Abstract Polymeric halogenated organophosphorus diols are obtained by reacting chlorine or bromine with spirocyclic phosphites and thereafter reacting the halogenated product with a diol, in the presence of an acid acceptor. These novel viscous polymers react with polyisocyantes to produce polyurethanes. Polyurethanes so made are characterized by improved flame retardant properties compared with conventional polyurethanes. Such polyurethanes are preferably in the form of foams, especially flexible foams.
