An antioxidant composition obtained by a process as claimed in claim 1 in which the radical acceptor is selected from phenothiazine, 3,7-disubstituted phenothiazines, 1,3,7-trisubstituted phenothiazines, N-hydrocarbyl-3,7-disubstituted phenothiazines in which the hydrocarbyl group is alkyl, aryl or aralkyl, Alpha -naphthylamine, N-phenyl- Alpha -naphthylamine, N-phenyl- Beta -naphthylamine, o-, m- and p-phenylene diamines, iminodibenzyl, dibenzylamine, and mono- and disubstituted phenyl naphthylamines, the substituents being alkyl groups with 1 to 12 carbon atoms or aralkyl or 1-alkyl cycloalkyl groups.
