Abstract
Abstract For decreasing the pollutants in automobile exhaust gases there is provided a catalyst containing a ceramic carrier such as alumina combined with manganese oxide and/or chromium oxide, and impregnated thereon a mixture of platinum and a metal oxide such as nickel, cobalt or iron oxides. An aluminum salt is preferably impregnated into the ceramic carrier, and then calcined to form an aluminum oxide layer, this step being conducted prior to the introduction of platinum.
