Abstract

Abstract The machine tool comprises a longitudinal guide, workpieceholding means for holding a workpiece in a fixed position, in which the longitudinal axis of said workpiece is parallel to said longitudinal guide, a tool slide assembly, which is movable along said longitudinal guide and comprises a compound rest, which consists of two slides, which are movable relative to each other in directions which are normal to each other and transverse to said guide, an annular tool, which has inwardly facing cutting means and is carried by said compound rest and adapted to surround a workpiece held by said workpiece-holding means, means for revolving said tool around said workpiece, and means for coordinating the relative movements of said slides.
