Abstract

Abstract This application relates to the use of alkyl alkanoates having molecular weights no greater than 74 as blowing agents in the production of flexible slabstock polyurethane foams. Compared to the blowing agents (fluorocarbons) widely used commercially in producing such foams, the alkyl alkanoates are more efficient in that they produce a greater volume of gas per pound of blowing agent.
