Abstract

Abstract Compounds, preferably oligomers or polymers, are nitrosated to provide at least two nitroso groups on the average per molecule. At ambient temperatures the molecules couple by dimerization of the nitroso groups to modify the properties. At higher temperatures the nitroso dimer groupings dissociate so that the composition can be melt fabricated. Melt-compatible blends of different compounds can also be employed as the precursor materials.
