Abstract
Abstract Olefins and isoparaffins are alkylated in the presence of an HF catalyst. The reactor effluent is passed to a settling zone. The hydrocarbon phase is fractionated to recover an alkylate product. The acid phase is recycled to the reactor. A portion of the recycled acid is passed to a purification column for removal of acid soluble oil. Stripping vapor is introduced into the purification column both above and below the surface of said soluble oil accumulated therein. Baffles are positioned in the lower region of the column to increase the vapor-liquid contacting.

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
25 words
The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said first baffle has at least one opening in the upper region thereof to permit liquid to pass therethrough.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
42 words
The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said second contacting means comprises a plurality of inclined trays positioned in spaced relationship with one another so that liquid flows in series along the upper surfaces of the trays as it descends through said vessel.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
17 words
The apparatus of claim 3 wherein the lowermost of said trays is said inclined transverse baffle means.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
45 words
The apparatus of claim 4, further comprising a third generally vertical baffle attached to and extending upwardly from the upper surface of said lowermost tray to prevent liquid on the upper surface of said lowermost tray from flowing through said opening in said lowermost tray.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
48 words
The apparatus of claim 3, further comprising a generally horizontal support ring secured to the walls of said vessel, and a plurality of support rods secured to said ring and depending therefrom to engage said trays, whereby said trays are suspended from said support ring by said rods.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
19 words
The apparatus of claim 6 wherein said first baffle is secured to and is suspended from the lowermost tray.
