Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 90 words
A METHOD FOR DISPERSING FINELY DIVIDED, WATER-INSOLUBLE SOLIDS, COMPRISING DIALYZING A SULFITE, AMIDOSULFONIC ACID OR SULFONIC ACID MODIFIED MELAMINE-FORMALDEHYDE RESIN, THE SULFITE OR SULFONIC ACID GROUP OF WHICH IS IN THE FORM OF A SODIUM SALT, SAID RESIN BEING OF A MOLECULAR WEIGHT BETWEEN 5,000 AND 50,000, ADMIXING SAID RESIN IN AN AMOUNT FROM 1 TO 10 PERCENT BY WEIGHT WITH SAID FINELY DIVIDED WATER-INSOLUBLE SOLID, IN AN AQUEOUS MEDIUM HAVING A PH RANGE ABOVE 6.5 AND DISPERSING SAID SOLID IN SAID AQUEOUS MEDIUM IN THE PRESENCE OF SAID RESIN.
Claim 2
Claim 3
Claim 4
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 21 words
The method as defined in claim 1 and wherein the aqueous medium has a hardness between 0* and 40* German hardness.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 57 words
The method as defined in claim 1 wherein said sodium sulfonate or sodium sulfite groups are converted to free acid groups by ion exchange which are further converted to the salts of potassium, ammonium, magnesium, calcium, barium, pyridine, morpholine, or triethanolamine and said resin is then admixed with said finely divided, water-insoluble solid, sought to be dispersed.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 20 words
The method as defined in claim 1 and wherein said resin is used in combination with a non-ionic wetting agent.
