Abstract
Abstract Phosphonitrilate polymers suitable for fire retardant use are prepared by reacting a phosphonitrilic halide such as (PNCl2)n with an organophosphazene (PN(OR)2)n such that an alkyl halide is removed, thereby forming a P-O-P bond, and reacting the resultant polymer with an aqueous alkali or alkaline earth metal hydroxide.
