Abstract

Abstract In a Loran C receiver, method and apparatus of providing cycle tracking of received master and slave transmissions on a predetermined cycle identified from a predetermined Loran pulse envelope point which is compensated for envelope-cycle discrepancies in the received signals. A threshold detection system senses a hypothetical ''''third cycle'''' point on Loran C pulses and thereby identifies the cycle which is to be tracked. Envelope-cycle variations in received signals which prevent coincident occurrence of predetermined cycle and envelope points are adjusted in response to estimated or measured position to bring the predetermined cycle and envelope points into coincidence and thus reduce the possibility of cycle tracking at the wrong cycle.
