Abstract

Abstract A process for treating a contaminated water and soluble oil mixture used as a cutting and cooling aid in manufacturing operations by contacting the contaminated mixture with ozone to oxidize and destroy bacteria in the mixture. Preferably, the contaminated mixture is contacted with ozone more than once per day when the mixture is used in industrial manufacturing operations substantially continuously throughout the day.
